August Sales Up 16.8% Over the Previous Year

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Sept. 3, 2002 -- Hyundai Motor America today announced that August was an all-time record month with sales of 40,266 vehicles. This is the first time in its history that Hyundai has surpassed the 40,000 unit level. “This is our 19th consecutive month of record-setting sales,” said Hyundai’s Vice President of Sales Robert Cosmai. “Compared to last year at this time, Hyundai sales are up 16 percent YTD,” Cosmai said.

“Sales were led by the Elantra and the Santa Fe sport utility vehicle, both of which set new all-time records in August. Buyers looking for styling, performance and value have given Hyundai tremendous sales momentum this year and we expect these strong sales to continue,” he added.

“Hyundai cars and sport utility vehicles are backed with America’s Best Warranty, The Hyundai Advantage. Our customers have confidence knowing their Hyundai vehicles are covered by a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, a 5-year/60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, 5-year/unlimited miles roadside assistance program and more,” Cosmai explained.
